KSN are proud to support:

Faversham Town 1-2 Sittingbourne
Faversham Town 1-2 Sittingbourne

Sittingbourne had a break from league football to begin this year’s sojourn in the Kent Reliance Senior Cup, and Nick Davis took the opportunity to rest some of the squad for this match with Ben Gorham, Kane Phillip and Kane Rowland all on a strong bench.

There were two now signings in the squad :-John Coker and Jordayne Henry.  Faversham Town fielded a mixture of first teamers and Under 21’s.

Faversham have had a disappointing start to the season being beaten in both of their two home league matches so far this season against opposition that they must have fancied beating (Herne Bay and Ramsgate, Bay beat them 3-0).

Faversham are 18th in the table, but they had a good win on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup by beating Tonbridge Angels 3-1. Just to show what a strange game football can be Tonbridge Angels beat Herne Bay 10-1 (yes 10) tonight in the County Cup!

Sittingbourne started brightly in the drizzle and took the lead on 12 minutes when Gil Carvalho scored his first competitive goal for the club by converting David Smith’s cross ball.

Sittingbourne were playing some good football but Faversham equalised on the half hour with a good shot from a free kick.

Sittingbourne had the edge in the second half but just as it looked as though the tie would be decided on penalty kicks they won a free kick halfway into the Faversham half. The ball was cleared for a corner and with just 1 minute left of the 4 added minutes signalled by the referee the corner ball flew to the far post where Dawodu headed it home.

Dowadu has now scored in all 3 competitions so far played by Sittingbourne, League, Emirates FA Cup and Kent Reliance Kent Senior Cup. Faversham won a final free kick on the edge of the Brickies area and it was heart in the mouth time as the ball was fired goalwards but a defender was on hand to clear and the Brickies had sealed another away trip in the next round, this time to Dover Athletic.

Once again the Brickies fans gave the team magnificent support.
