Faversham Town 1-2 Sevenoaks Town
Faversham Town 1-2 Sevenoaks Town

Faversham Town and Sevenoaks Town struggled in the windy conditions and thus they both did not create many chances but for the neutral it was a fascinating encounter as both sides were at each other and it did boil over in the first minute off added on time as all 22 players and both benches got involved in a fracas over the Sevenoaks bench kicking the ball away.

The game actually nearly had a goal in 57 seconds when debutant Marshall Wratten charged down Debutant Joe Dockerty’s clearance & the ball rebounded up & landed on the top of the net.

In the 5th minute Sevenoaks took the lead when Jon Pilbeam recently signed from Chatham saw his corner into the 6 yard box shot in by Dean Gunner.

The game went a little quiet for 20 minutes then another Sevenoaks corner this time to the near post was headed just past the post by Freeman Rogers.

In the 34th minute Pat Ohman came to Faversham’s rescue when Steffan Wright running forward tried his luck from 20 yards but Ohman pushed it away for a corner. Faversham had a glorious chance to equalise when a long ball forward found Manny Oluwasemo outmuscle the defender & go into the area but instead of shooting his square pass for Wratten was just a bit beyond him & the chance went.

Half time arrived & the Faversham players went off to the dressing room while most of the Sevenoaks players stayed out on the pitch.

Sevenoaks came out the stronger & in the space of a minute Ben Davisson saw his 40 yard free kick go just over the bat & then Wright running forward saw his shot from 20 yards go just over the bar.

In the 68th minute Sevenoaks doubled their lead when a corner was half cleared back to Bobby Dunn & his cross into the area was touched in by Louis Collins.

Faversham got a goal back in the 79th minute when Jono Richardson’s free kick inside his half was fortunately flicked on & Oluwasemo latched onto it & headed in from 6 yards. Faversham had their tails up & tried to get an equaliser but Sevenoaks held firm.

The game was a minute into added on time when the ball went out of play by the Sevenoaks bench & one of them kicked it away to waste time but the Faversham players not like this & then a 22 man brawl occurred with both benched joining in.

The referee let the players calm down & then in discussion with his assistants dished out a red card to a member of the Sevenoaks coaches & Louis Collins & also a member of the Faversham Bench, he then booked Danny Devine & Luke Leppard for their part in it.

The game then went on for another ten minutes but Faversham could not get the equaliser.
