Evison to leave Kent for Sussex

Kent Cricket have confirmed that Joey Evison will be joining Sussex Cricket at the end of this Summer.

The all-rounder joined Kent in 2022, initially on loan from Nottinghamshire, before making the move full-time ahead of the 2023 season.

He has since gone on to make over 100 appearances for the county across all formats, winning the One Day Cup as a Spitfire in 2022.

On leaving Kent at the end of the season, Evison said: “After four good years with Kent, I’ve decided that the time is right for me to take a new opportunity at Sussex Cricket.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved who bought me to the Club and those that have backed me along the way.

“We’ve had some good days together on the journey for sure, especially winning the One Day Cup, something that I will always look back on as one of the highlights of my career.

“I wish everyone at Kent the best going forward, and I’d like to thank the Members and supporters for all of their support throughout my time in Canterbury.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “After talks with Joey and his representatives, it became clear that he desires a new challenge at Sussex, and we wish him all the best for the future.

“Whilst we’re disappointed to see Joey leave, professional sport is fluid, and his departure creates opportunities for others in the squad to take the next step in their development.

“Joey will, of course, always be welcome back at the St Lawrence Ground.”
