Evison signs new Kent contract

Kent Cricket have announced that Joey Evison has signed an extension to his Kent contract, which will now run until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The right-handed all-rounder originally joined Kent from Nottinghamshire midway through the 2022 season, winning the Metro Bank One Day Cup in his first Summer as a Kent Spitfire, putting in a Player of the Match performance in the Final at Trent Bridge.

The 23-year-old has made 96 appearances for the county across all formats so far, scoring 2,862 runs including two centuries, and taking 87 wickets.

In 2025, Evison has taken 26 wickets in 17 matches at an average of 26.61.

On extending his time as a Kent player, Evison said: “I’m delighted to commit to Kent for the foreseeable future.

“A lot of positive change is happening behind the scenes, and the future for Kent looks really bright. I’m pleased that I will be on this journey for a long time yet.

“I’d like to thank the coaches, staff and supporters for all the faith that they have shown in me in my time here so far – I hope that I’ll continue to repay that faith in a Kent shirt.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “Joey is an extremely talented young player and this is more great news for us.

“We’ve now got two fantastic young players [after Tawanda Muyeye’s contract extension] that will form a core part of our squad in the coming few seasons, showing their commitment to Kent and to our long-term plan for success.

“Joey has developed a lot in a short space of time and is now an exciting all-format cricketer for us, able to score vital runs and take big wickets when called upon.

“We’re delighted that he has chosen Kent as the place for him to continue to impress as a true all-round cricketer.”
