Stanmore Stadium, Bayliss Avenue, hosts a South Eastern Counties Football League match when Erith Town entertain Fisher on Tuesday evening.

Despite their defeat on Saturday, the Dockers still sit in the top five while inconsistent Fisher are in tenth place.

Neither team managed to finish 2023 on a high with a victory. Erith travelled to Corinthian and got off to a great start with a sixth minute goal by James Dyer, however parity was restored just before the half hour mark when Oscar Housego was on the scoresheet.

Michael Hagan put the hosts ahead five minutes later and that ended the scoring for the afternoon.

Meanwhile Fisher travelled to Sutton Athletic and went behind in the ninth minute through a goal scored by Mariano Bankjoko. However, they levelled eight minutes later, courtesy of a goal scored by Flavio Jumo. That turned out to be the end of the goalscoring for both teams.

When the two teams met at the St Paul’s Sports Ground in September, the hosts took the honours. Thomas Ngegba, Manny Shoderu, and Conor Darwish put Fisher three up with almost an hour on the clock.

Two goals in four minutes, scored by Ryan Mahal and Henry Arnold gave the Dockers hope but they were caught out when searching for an equaliser and conceded a goal scored by Eniyelayefa Amgbaduba to ensure victory for the Fish.

At home, Erith have played ten, winning eight and losing two. On the road, Fisher started the season with two victories but have not won an away league game since, having drawn three and lost five.

In last season’s corresponding game at Erith Leisure Centre, the spoils were shared. Mahal was sent off in just the seventh minute and Isaac Thompson put the Fish ahead six minutes later.

The visitors held on to the lead until the seventh minute of second half stoppage time when Steadman Callender fired home from a tight angle.

Both teams will be keen to start 2024 in style so there could be an enthralling match in store.
