Erith Town v Sutton Athletic preview

Erith Stadium hosts a South Eastern Counties Football League match when Erith Town entertain Sutton Athletic on Wednesday evening kicking off at 19:30.

Showing their fortitude following their F.A. Vase disappointment at Bridgwater in Somerset, Adam Woodward’s team have picked up six points out of six from two hard fought one-nil victories.

The first one was a Wednesday evening game at home to Lordswood before following up at Holmesdale on Saturday.

Steadman Callender scored his one hundredth goal for the Dockers in the first of those two games and followed up with another on Saturday,

However, the successes were built on a bedrock of two clean sheets for goalkeeper Mackenzie Foley and strong performances from their back four.

Dan Kelly’s Sutton have acquitted themselves to the league well since their promotion via the play-offs at the end of last season and are in the top half of the table.

They have had three home games since a heavy defeat at Phoenix Sports and beat Kennington in the league and Tooting Bec in the Challenge Cup before being pipped by the odd goal in five against Fisher.

Jacob Katonia put the visitors ahead, but Dan Gunner levelled. Michael Sarpong put Fisher back in front on the stroke of half time.

Avelin Cedric Nganga added a third but although Arlie Desanges pulled one back with ten minutes remaining, they couldn’t find a leveller.

That was Desanges’ fourteenth league goal in nineteen starts and he also has five cup goals.

Callender has scored fifteen league goals in nineteen starts for the Dockers, plus two cup strikes so both teams’ defences will have to be on their mettle.
