Erith Town v Punjab United preview

Erith Stadium hosts a South Eastern Counties Football League match when Erith Town entertain Punjab United on Wednesday evening.

On Saturday, Adam Woodward’s Dockers rebounded from their defeat at Phoenix Sports last week with a two-one defeat over Bearsted. Steadman Callender’s brace gave them a two goal half time lead.

Ollie Freeman pulled one back from the penalty spot midway through the second half but Erith held on to claim the three points.

That left them fourth in the table, nine points behind league leaders Erith and Belvedere leading into the midweek fixtures, and just three points adrift of Phoenix Sports in second and Deal Town in third place.

Chipie Sian’s Punjab side are in a comfortable mid-table position following two victories on the spin. They followed up their four-nil victory at Kennington with a three-one win over K. Sports on Saturday.

Jayden Hussain gave them a half time lead before two goals in six minutes by William Johnson-Cole settled the match. Richard Jimoh scored a consolation goal for the Sports with five minutes remaining.

Johnson-Cole scored the only goal when the two teams met in Gravesend earlier in the season and United will be keen to complete the double. Kick off is at 7.30pm and it should be an intriguing encounter.
