Erith Town v Erith & Belvedere preview

Erith Stadium hosts a South Eastern Counties Football League derby when Erith Town entertain Erith and Belvedere on Wednesday evening.

There is much to play for with the visitors being top of the league and the hosts in third place.

Although the Deres have a fifteen point advantage over Adam Woodward’s team, they have played three games more so it will be a match that both teams will want to win.

On Saturday, Woodward’s team were in F.A. Vase action, beating Guildford City courtesy of a goal by leading scorer Steadman Callender. They have won seven of their last eight league games with K Sports being the only team to beat them during that spell.

Tony Beckingham’s Deres are already out of the F.A. Vase and defeated Canterbury City two-nil in a league game on Saturday. Goals in three minutes around the hour mark settled the match. Lewis Chambers marked his debut with the opener and Tunde Aderonmu added a second moments after coming on as a substitute.

Having started the season with eleven straight league wins, the Deres had a minor blip when claiming one point in two games, before returning to winning ways with two victories.

Kick-off is at 7.30pm and with two local teams in such good form playing each other a bumper crowd is expected.
