Erith & Belvedere v Littlehampton Town preview

On Wednesday evening, Erith and Belvedere host Littlehampton Town at the Acclaim Handling Community Stadium.

It has been a tough few weeks for the Deres and they will be looking to end their eleven game win-less run in which they have claimed just two points and scored three goals. That has taken them into bottom two.

Their most recent game, on Sunday, ended in a five-nil home defeat at the hands of league leaders Ramsgate. They were one-nil down at the break and still in the game until midway through the second half.

However, when Tijan Jadama added to his first half goal, it started a spree of four goals in fifteen minutes. Jadama completed his hat-trick, Joe Taylor added a fourth, and Sinnkaye Christie rounded off the scoring with seven minutes remaining.

Their guests from Sussex are three points ahead of the Deres in the table. They didn’t play over the weekend as their home game with Cray Valley PM was postponed due to an electrical fault. Last time out they crashed to a six-nil home defeat at the hands of Sheppey United.

Dan Bradshaw opened the scoring in the eighth minute and Javaun Splatt added a second two minutes later. On the stroke of half time Frankie Del Morgan added a third and when Briggs Ojemen added a fourth nine minutes after the break and the contest was over. An own goal and another from Splatt rounded off the scoring.

Despite the bad run, manager Matt Longhurst will be determined that his young team pushes for every point to keep the club in the league after fighting so hard to get into it last season.
