Erith & Belvedere v Forest Hill Park preview

There will be some familiar faces back at the Acclaim Handling Community Stadium when Forest Hill Park visit Erith and Belvedere in the third round of the Southern Counties East Football League Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening.

Former Deres who are in the Forest’s squad include goalkeeper George Kamurasi, Nathan and Ryan Palmer, Reece Barrett and Ryan Johnson.

Neither side played on Saturday so the Deres’ F.A. Vase match at Essex coast based team White Ensign has been rescheduled for Saturday 18th January. Their last match was on the previous Saturday when they visited Lordswood. They went in at half time one down but Tunde Aderonmu levelled before Tommy Whitnell won it for Erith with a goal one minute before the end.

Visitors Forest Hill are second in Division One, behind Canterbury City on goal difference having played three games fewer. In their last outing, they had to come back from behind twice to claim a point from Faversham Strike Force with both goals scored by Ryan Palmer.

To get to this stage, the Deres had a bye in the first round. Then goals by Tyller Davis-Whitlock and Luca Sandford helped them to a two-one victory over Lewisham Borough in the second round.

It took penalties for Forest Hill to get through the first round after drawing nil-nil at Tunbridge Wells and they followed up by beating Welling Town at home by the odd goal in three. Their goals were scored by Barrett and Ulrich Fischer.

Although there is a one league difference between the two clubs, it is unlikely to make a difference and it’s expected to be a very competitive encounter.
