Erith & Belvedere v Forest Hill Park preview

On Tuesday evening, Erith and Belvedere entertain Forest Hill Park in a Southern Counties East Football Challenge Cup fixture.

Victory for the Deres on Saturday moved them up to fifth place in the Premier Division. They hosted Lordswood and had to remain patient before opening the scoring on the stroke of half time through James Dyer.

Luke Rooney added a second from the spot twenty minutes into the second half before the game came to an explosive finale. Caleb Afoke pulled one back with four minutes remaining but less than sixty seconds later Henry Dasofunjo restored the Deres’ two goal lead and an injury time penalty by Danny Lear rounded off a good afternoon for them.

Meanwhile, Forest Hill were beaten at Meridian VP by the only goal with five minutes left on the referee’s watch, scored by Billy Reavill. That put the two teams on level points above bottom club Chessington and Hook.

Coincidently, while Forest Hill qualified by way of a bye, Erith won five-one at Meridian in the first round last week. Dasofunjo put them ahead in the third minute but they didn’t score again until two minutes after the break when Calum McGeehan netted.

Douane West pulled one back but goals by Ollie Bate, Dyer and Richard Jimoh ensured a comfortable path for the Deres.
