Erith & Belvedere v Canterbury City preview

Erith & Belvedere go into Saturday’s final SCEFL Premier Division game of the season against Canterbury City at Park View Road knowing that they need a win, a Beckenham Town loss and an eight goal swing to avoid finishing in the relegation zone.

The Deres need to make sure that they finish at least second from bottom in case any teams withdraw from the league and a side is reprieved from the drop during the close season, so will be looking for a win whatever the result in the Beckenham Town v Bearsted game to make sure they finish above Fisher who play at home to Erith Town.

Canterbury make the journey to Welling on a poor run of form having lost their last four, but they still sit ninth in the table with 55 points from 37 games and they won the reverse fixture in February 2-1.

Erith & Belvedere have 26 points and suffered a 7-1 defeat at Bearsted last weekend which saw them slip into the relegation places.‎

It’s been a very tough season for The Deres with managerial changes and they have only won three games in 2017, but they will be hoping for something special on Saturday.

For a club with a rich non-league history and who were in The Ryman League only three years ago slipping down to step six ‎would be hard to take.
