Erith & Belvedere 3-3 Fisher
Erith & Belvedere 3-3 Fisher

There was a goal-fest at Park View Road in the Southern Counties East Football League when Erith and Belvedere were held by Fisher.

Coming into the game the hosts were well clear at the top of the league while the visitors held the penultimate place in the table. However, Fisher certainly gave as good as they got despite playing the last twenty-two minutes plus eight additional, with then men.

Tunde Aderonmu followed up his midweek hat-trick by opening the scoring in the tenth minute, finishing coolly after excellent work by Danny Lear.

Eight minutes lately, Fisher levelled. Jacob Katonia went on a powerful run down the left wing and his shot was well saved by Adam Molloy. It came out to Michael Sarpong, and Molloy again saved but it fell to Isaac Thompson, and he made no mistake from close range.

Aderonmu had another opportunity but shot wide before the Deres went back ahead. Ryan Palmer’s free kick was too hot for Justice Owusu to hold, and Bradley Ryan was first to the rebound and he headed home.

Thompson instigated another chance for the visitors with a brilliant cross field pass to Katonia. He played it back to Sarpong, but his shot flew over.

Palmer had the last chance of the first half, but his free kick went just wide.

In the first minute of the second half, Fisher had a big shout for a penalty when Cedric Nganga appeared to have been bundled over, but their appeals were ignored. However, they were level soon after. Thompson intercepted a sloppy Erith pass in midfield and measured his shot into the top corner.

Another chance came Aderonmu’s way, and he looked sure to score when he rounded Owusu, but German Petrov got back to make a brilliant clearance off the line.

Anthony Morrison drew an excellent save out of Owusu with a long range shot before the Deres went back ahead. Palmer delivered a corner, Jerome Wade flicked it on, and Aderonmu turned it home from close range.

Five minutes later, Fisher levelled again. Katonia went on another good run and drew a good save out of Molloy, however there was nothing that he could do to stop Thompson from netting the follow-up to complete his hat-trick.

Lear got clear almost immediately and was fouled by Adewunmi, depriving the Deres’ striker a goalscoring opportunity giving the referee no option but to brandish his red card.

Lear headed over from a cross by Morrison before Thompson almost notched his fourth when his shot flew back out off the near post. Aderonmu came close to being the second player to complete his hat-trick only to be thwarted by the feet of Owusu.

Katonia went on another long run before shooting over then Palmer fired a free kick wide of the near post. Lear looked sure to score for the Deres when sent through by Ryan, but he lost his balance at the crucial point.

Fisher substitute 4 had the last chance of the match but could not hit the target after Petrov headed it back.

The point for Erith moved them seventeen points clear at the top whilst Fisher moved closer to the safety zone.
