Erith & Belvedere 0-4 Welling United
Erith & Belvedere 0-4 Welling United

Two goals in each half ensured that Welling United took the F.A. Youth Cup honours against Erith and Belvedere in the battle of Park View Road.

It took Welling, the visitors on the night, just four minutes to go ahead when David Kamara broke through to fire home.

Kamara tried his luck again shortly after, but Toby Waller claimed it at the second attempt however the Deres had plenty of possession but struggled to break down the Welling defence.

Waller made comfortable saves from Callum Ellington and Kieran King before Welling doubled their lead. Kamara looked to have been brought down in the penalty area, but a free kick was awarded just outside. Jack Church delivered and although King’s header came down off the bar, Donald Macauley was on hand to bundle it home.

Bradley Russell got on the end of a good move by the Deres’ which involved George Button and Jack Davies, but Archie Aldous blocked the shot with his legs before Waller made a stunning save to turn Church’s shot over. Waller made another outstanding save before the break, keeping out Oliver Godziemski’s shot after clever work by Kamara.

Early in the second period, the Deres put together a sweeping move to make space for Regan Pay but he could not garner sufficient power to trouble Aldous before Welling added a third. Deandre Williams burst through and was felled in the penalty area. Kamara took the responsibility and slotted home from the spot.

Henry Griffin came on as a substitute for the Wings, earned himself a caution for delaying play, then shot just wide from twenty yards.

Just under fifteen minutes remained when Welling scored their fourth. Clever interplay between Archie Gumbrell and Semilore Abodunrin created the opening and Godziemski slotted home at the near post.

Pay fired a free kick well over for the Deres before, at the other end, Griffin hit first time wide of the near post after excellent work between Church and Williams.

The referee’s final whistle signalled the end of play soon after for Welling to progress and they will play Corinthian-Casuals in the next round.
