It was The Gills 5th loss in League One this season, leaving them 18th in the league and just one point above the relegation zone.

Despite drawing level after going behind, The Gills conceded late on yet again leaving Edinburgh deflated with what he had seen:

“It’s disappointing. Again, I thought it was pretty even first half, but we dominated possession.”

“The response the players gave (after half-time) was exactly as we asked. We played with a real purpose, good energy, and a good tempo that we couldn’t perhaps find in the first half.”

“Again, a game that we have dominated in the second half we have ended up losing.”

“Once we got the goal we looked like the team that was going on to win the game, but we can’t keep standing here saying that; we have to start delivering.”

“The application and the effort from the players is there. We have got to start turning these performances into results, and not just draws; wins.”

Gillingham now have the rest of the week to prepare for the visit of Brackley Town to Priestfield on Saturday for the FA Cup First Round clash.
