Ebbsfleet United 3-0 Barnet
Ebbsfleet United 3-0 Barnet

Ebbsfleet United secured their first home win of the 2019/20 season as they comfortably beat Barnet at the Kuflink Stadium on Tuesday Night.

Myles Weston opened the scoring on 32 minutes as his delivery from the right hand side evaded everyone, including Scott Loach and into the net. Three minutes later it was two to the good for The Fleet as Alex Reid fired past Loach after two previous shots were blocked by Barnet Defenders. The third was guided home by Ayo Obileye as Barnet failed to clear a long ball into their box.

The win moved the fleet off the bottom off the table and with Wrexham coming up on Saturday it is sure to be an interesting match up between two of the bottom four sides.

Garry Hill’s men started the strongest of the two sides with Ebbsfleet’s Jack King going close after glancing his header just wide of the far post inside five minutes.

Weston and Umerah were bright all evening for the fleet as the two combined down the right hand side on fiften minutes with the latter putting in a wonderful cross, unfortunately for Hill’s men there was no one on the end of it and Alexander had to scramble it away for the Bees.

Barnet grew into the game and had chances through ex Dover Athletic striker Alfie Pavey with Pavey producing a stunning save from Jordan Holmes in the Fleet goal after bringing the ball down in the box and firing a shot goalwards. Winger Ephron Mason-Clark also tested Holmes in the Ebbsfleet goal but Garry Hill’s men were determined to keep the Bees at bay.

Three goals, three points and a clean sheet for Hill’s men as they head to Wrexham on Saturday. Can this kick start Fleet’s season? We will wait and see.
