There is much needed joy for fans of Ebbsfleet United after it was confirmed that they could finally start their season this weekend.

A statement released by the club broke the news after transfer of ownership and debts to HMRC had meant the National League had suspended the Kent side from starting their National League South campaign.

The statement reads: “Ebbsfleet United are delighted to inform our supporters that following the National League meeting last night, and the public announcement just released, the suspension has been lifted and our campaign will begin with a trip to Walton & Hersham this Saturday. And we will return home next Tuesday night to host Hemel Hempstead Town.”

“We are straight into continuing our preparations for a big weekend of football ahead and a return to the Morrow Stadium next week.”

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding, as well as our players and staff for their exemplary conduct through this difficult period – and we cannot wait to be back out on the pitch to display that.”

“Let’s get a big away following this Saturday and then let’s fill the Morrow Stadium on Tuesday – it will be fantastic to see you all!”

Meanwhile, the National League issued the following statement:

“The National League’s Compliance and Licensing Committee reconvened on Tuesday 1 September 2026 to further consider Ebbsfleet United FC’s compliance with National League rules and regulations, and the Club’s ongoing suspension.”

“The Committee considered information provided by the Club and HMRC to date. The Committee had regard to recent payments to HMRC and players, information received in relation to proposed restructuring of the Club’s financial position and other related matters. ”

“While the Committee continues to consider there are issues for the Club to satisfy the League on with regard to compliance with rules and regulations, the Committee decided, in accordance with applicable regulations, that the suspension of Ebbsfleet United FC will be lifted with immediate effect.”

“The Club remains under a player registration Embargo.  The Committee continues to require specified action from the Club and will continue to be in close contact.”

“Ebbsfleet United’s fixture away to Walton & Hersham FC on Saturday 5 September will proceed as scheduled.”

“The Committee has the power to order conditions and sanctions on the Club in relation to matters and imposed a suspended six-points deduction against the Club, which will be activated in the event of the Committee considering the Club to have failed to comply with obligations under the rules and regulations during the current Season.”

In all, Ebbsfleet United had six games postponed that will now need to be rescheduled.

They were due to start their campaign away to Slough Town on August 8th before hosting Folkestone Invicta a week later.

Further fixtures with Chelmsford City, AFC Totton, Farnborough and Horsham were subsequently postponed and new dates for those will be announced in due course.
