Dynamos set for new season

The Invicta Dynamos will compete with seven other sides in both the NIHL South Division 1 and the NIHL Southern Cup for a 42 game regular season that gets underway with the Mos hosting the Bracknell Bees in Gillingham on Sunday 16th September.

The Dynamos will face the Basingstoke Bison, Bracknell Bees, London Raiders, Milton Keynes Thunder, Peterborough Phantoms, Streatham IHC and Swindon Wildcats in both the league and cup competitions with the Cardiff Fire withdrawing from the NIHL South’s top tier for 2018/19.

NIHL SOUTH DIVISION 1

Teams will play each other six times on a three at home and three away basis for a total of 42 league fixtures. There is no automatic relegation from the NIHL South Division 1 at the end of the season.

NIHL SOUTHERN CUP

All eight of the NIHL South Division 1’s teams will compete in the NIHL Southern Cup. The competition begins with a league format in which teams will face each other twice on a one at home and one away basis. These fixtures are amalgamated with NIHL South Division 1 fixtures meaning the first two meetings between each side in 2018/19 will count towards both the league and cup competition.

The top four placed sides at the end of the league stage will progress to the two-legged semi-finals to be played on a one at home and one away basis on the weekend beginning Saturday 2nd February 2019. The winners of the semi-finals will feature in a two-legged final also to be played on a one at home and one away basis.

NIHL PLAYOFFS

All eight NIHL South Division 1 sides will progress to the playoffs. These continue to be held in a knockout format with final league position determining matchups (eg, 1st v 8th, 2nd v 7th and so on). Games will be played over two legs on a one at home and one away basis. Winners will then progress to the semi-finals and final also to be played on a one at home and one away basis. In addition the two finalists will also progress to a final four weekend also featuring the two finalists from the NIHL North. A national winner will then be decided in knockout games held over two days in Coventry.
