Snodland Town face the biggest game in the Club’s history this weekend as for the first time ever the SCEFL side have won their way through to the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup and player manager Connor Dymond is looking forward to facing Sheppey United.

Town will go into the weekend full of confidence as they go looking to knock out a third Isthmian side after away wins at Harrow Borough and Margate both by a 3-1 scoreline as Sheppey United make the short trip to the GI Landscape Stadium on Saturday – all that after Snodland edged past Faversham Strike Force in the Extra Preliminary Round.

That decent Cup form has translated into great League form under new player boss Connor Dymond which has Snodland currently second in the table behind early leaders Fisher. 

But as the manager told KSN after we spoke this week, Saturday is all about the FA Cup as we spoke after Tuesday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Hollands & Blair.

“It’s been really hard to focus on the game with Blair and that’s no disrespect to them as all the talk is about Saturday, Saturday, Saturday.”

“Ever since the draw, we have had to pull back the reigns and focus on the League, and this is our bread and butter, and we really didn’t want to lose the game!” 

“That said, Tuesday’s game was mental!” The boss confessed after his side recovered from 1-3 down in stoppage time to grab a deserved point.

“Ten minutes before the end we were dead and buried. My staff made some really good subs after I came on earlier and we really went for it and the ball fell for us in the end!” 

“There were periods of the game where we should have won it and had them dead and buried in the first half, but football is never like that and we were up against a good side on Tuesday but in the end, I think we showed guts and were courageous enough to get something out of the game.” 

“It was a great advert for SCEFL – as a neutral it had everything you want to see in goals, a dramatic ending and a real gung-ho game!” 

Dymond was appointed in the summer and admitted, “Loving it at the moment! I am learning loads all of the time, it’s a wonderful Club to be at!”

“The fans have been behind us from day one which is amazing and so far, we have given the fans something to cheer about as we are second in the League and have this massive FA Cup tie coming up at the weekend.” 

“I do think that since we won at Margate, our performances may have dropped a bit as people subconsciously are looking to Saturday but we are trying to keep people on the straight and narrow, but I do understand the excitement of what is the biggest game in the Club’s history.” 

“That said, it is the third “biggest game” since we’ve been here though!” joked Dymond.

“It’s all great publicity for the Football Club – they deserve everything that they get as the people behind the scenes put in so much effort as Saturday is all about them and the fans.” 

“I have to admit that before I came here, I probably didn’t know the Club existed, but it’s an absolute gold mine and everything is so well looked after, the board are unbelievable and everyone concerned with the Club makes it such an amazing community Football Club.”
