Dover Athletic vs Hartlepool United preview

Dover Athletic are back at Crabble for the first time since Boxing Day as they welcome Hartlepool as Whites look to make it back to back home wins in the National League.

Last time out in the league, Dover fell to a 3-0 defeat at Bromley, which was interestingly the same score line as on Boxing Day, but in favour of Whites as they got a rare home victory, making it only two wins in their last 10 games at Crabble in the league.

With the game being the only National League game of the weekend, a win for Dover will see them move up to 11th in the table, moving within three points of the top seven.

Hartlepool come into this game off the back of a 2-1 win at home to Eastleigh, their first win in six games since beating Dagenham and Redbridge 1-0 on the 21st December.

Dave Challinor’s side sit in 13th place in the league, one place above Dover, with both teams having the same number of points on the board and will also move three points off the top seven with a victory.

Meanwhile, Dover are coming off the back of a 4-2 win against Faversham Town in the Kent Senior Cup in midweek and will be looking to make it three wins in their last five league games after a Christmas period which saw two wins, one draw and one defeat for Whites in the National League.

The home side will be looking back at the reverse fixture for the same sort of performance as goals from Inih Effiong and Steven Rigg meant that Whites left Victoria Park with all three points.

Effiong will be looking to add to his 11 goals this season, but Dover will have to look out for Gime Toure who has 12 goals and Nicke Kabamba who will be eyeing up his eighth of the season.
