Brad Ray had another good weekend in the British Superbike Championship, taking a brace of second place finishes.

Brad Ray was fast all weekend from the moment he took the covers off the Yamaha R1 at Cadwell Park.

He topped Superpole and stated race one from pole position on Saturday afternoon. He got overtaken off the line by Rory Skinner. 

On lap four he made a move into Park but couldn’t make it stick, before trying the same move the very next lap. This time it ended in disaster as he slid off and onto the grass. He wasn’t the only one to get caught out by that corner.

He then lined up back on pole on Sunday for the sprint race. Ryan Vickers was on pole but had a three place grid penalty. It was Vickers who got the holeshot though and took the lead and Ray slotted into third behind Skinner after a poor start.

Skinner however was to slide out on lap five himself which meant Ray was sat in behind Vickers for the whole race. He couldn’t find a move on the right circuit that would get him onto the top step, but came home in a solid second place. 

It was rince and repeat for race two of Sunday for the result of the front three.

Though Ray had to work his way back up from fourth having lost places on the opening lap. He did well to miss Skinner’s accident before sweeping past Ryde back into second.

He then looked to hunt down Vickers but he couldn’t get ahead to get that deserved win, but it’s another good weekend for Ray.

Speaking after the weekend, Ray said: “It’s been a good weekend for us overall. It was a shame to crash out on Sunday as we had the pace to fight for the win. In today’s races I feel like I had a better result in me than second. We showed really strong pace, but Ryan defended well and I couldn’t find a way past.

“I tried to keep the pressure on throughout the race, but it wasn’t meant to be. To walk away from the weekend with two podiums feels good. I’m happy for the team, and happy with the pace we had.”
