Double podium for Hill
Double podium for Hill

Kent’s Jake Hill was twice on the podium at the weekend at Silverstone in the latest round of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

Hill and his Laser Tools Racing team finished, second, third and fourth in the penultimate round of the 2025 season.

Arriving at Silverstone off the back of a strong points haul and promising pace at Donington Park, Jake and the team carried plenty of momentum into the weekend. Saturday began with free practice, where he posted P13 and P5 across the two sessions before moving into the first qualifying group.

Behind the wheel of his #1 WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, Jake advanced to the top-12 shootout just as rain began to fall at the end of Q1. The second session ran in the dry, allowing him to demonstrate strong pace and secure P5, booking his spot in the quick-six showdown. By the time the final session began, heavy grey skies had rolled in, and rain quickly followed. Jake and the team reacted swiftly, switching to full wets as conditions deteriorated, and he delivered a superb lap to secure P3 on the grid—an excellent platform for Sunday’s racing action.

Race day dawned with bright sunshine and clear skies, and Jake slipped to fourth place as the opening lap played out. Unfazed, he executed a precise overtake to reclaim third and quickly latched onto the leading duo of Lloyd and Shedden. Closing in on the Toyota ahead, Jake made a decisive move into Copse to grab P2. A lengthy safety car period then stalled the action, and he ultimately crossed the line in second, securing his fifth podium finish of the season.

In race two, starting on the harder tyre compound after his earlier success, Jake launched well and snatched the lead through the opening corners. But with less TTB than his rivals and the disadvantage of the harder rubber, he was shuffled back to third as those with more boost surged forward. From there, Jake held his ground, displaying solid race pace to the flag to claim another podium and extend his 2025 tally.

In the final race of the day, Jake lined up P10 after the reverse-grid draw but wasted no time carving his way forward as Sunday’s showdown began. Showcasing sharp racecraft and well-judged overtakes, he charged through the field to claim fourth at the flag—capping off a stellar day for the team at the home of British motorsport.

Leaving Silverstone with two podiums and another strong points haul, Jake now sits fourth in the championship on 271 points, just 4 adrift of the top three—despite missing the Croft round in August due to illness. He and the team will head to Brands Hatch on 4/5 October for the season finale, with all eyes set on clinching third in the drivers’ standings.

Speaking after the weekend, Hill said: “Another fantastic weekend at Silverstone for both myself and the team, and we’re now right in the battle for third in the championship with just one round to go!

“To be back on the podium twice was hugely rewarding and a reflection of all the hard work we’ve put in over recent race weekends. The team was flawless throughout, so a big thank you to everyone involved—it felt great to be back fighting at the front where we belong.

“Now, all focus shifts to Brands Hatch, with P3 in the championship on the line. Bring it on!”
