Until those two games they had gone five games without scoring but six strikes against Braintree Town were followed by three second half goals against St. Albans City last Saturday in the F.A. Trophy.

They did not find it easy in the first half as they struggled to find the right combination up front and they went in at the break one down. However, a double substitution with Anthony Cook and Moses Emmanuel giving Bradley Goldberg support turned Welling into a different team.

Both the replacements were involved in the equaliser. Cook delivered the corner, Jay Rich-Baghuelou knocked it down and Emmanuel spun and shot. Although his effort was saved, Danny Waldren followed up and forced it home.

Less than two minutes later, the two substitutes combined again. Goldberg sent Cook away and his superb low cross was finished gleefully by Emmanuel as he marked his second Welling debut with a goal. Although Waldren was sent off, and the Wings were reduced to ten men, Cook made sure of their progress by adding a third with a clever, well executed free kick.

Manager, Mark Goldberg, will want the team to build on that as he knows that they are still under achieving in fifteenth place in the National League South. He will also feel that just one away league win in eight games is not good enough.

However, they can expect a tough match on Dorking’s 3G surface. They have won five, drawn two and lost just twice at home and are currently occupying seventh place in the table, the final play-off spot. Their defeats at the Meadowbank Stadium have come at the hands of Hampton and Richmond Borough and Oxford City.

Last Saturday, the Wanderers won three-nil at Leatherhead in the Trophy with Jack Barham scoring a hat-trick. Barham impressed in his short loan spell with Welling last season and is on a season long deal from Barnet at Dorking. Other former Wings at the club include Jake Gallagher and Tom Richards.
