Dieng leaves Gills on loan

Gillingham midfielder Tim Dieng has signed for Cheltenham Town on loan until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old midfielder signed for Gills in January of 2023 and has since played 72 games for the club, scoring 11 times.

The former Bradford City man, who has also featured for Oldham Athletic and Exeter City, links up with former Gills player Michael Flynn at Whaddon Road and could make his debut for Cheltenham Town in their Vertu Trophy Quarter Final clash at Peterborough United on Wednesday night.

Gillingham will travel to Cheltenham Town on April 18th for the reverse league fixture, although Dieng won’t be able to play against his parent club. The game at Priestfield ended 2-2 just before Christmas.

Dieng is expected to be the first of a number of the Gillingham squad that leave the club in some capacity today as the transfer window closes this evening.

The likes of Jonny Williams, Euan Williams and Oli Hawkins seem to be surplus to requirements at Priestfield with loan signing Jacob Wakeling likely to end his loan spell at the club.
