It’s Derby Day at the Aquatherm Stadium on Saturday as third placed Faversham Town look to cement their place in the top five at the expense of old rivals Sittingbourne with manager Tommy Warrilow saying it’s just another game.

Manager Tommy Warrilow admitted to KSN this week, “I’m not going to build it up as much as I think everyone wants to because it may be a local derby, but it is “just” another game of football in a very long season. We want to win every game.”
The Brickies make the short trip currently sixth and Warrilow went on, “Sittingbourne are one of the sides around us – and after them we go to Jersey – two sides who are breathing down our necks!
“We know the importance of both games, but at the same time, we know what’s ahead of us and how it can change in this League. We went to Merstham, put in a great performance and the next game got beaten by Erith Town at home.
“Saturday is not a must win game by any means, but all our games are big games when you’re in the position we are in – I am not going to make a big thing of it as there’s another game coming straight over the hill after Saturday!”
“We will treat it as any other game or approach it any differently – we will concentrate on us and hopefully come out with the points!”
“The atmosphere around the place when we first walked in the door was delicate yet now there’s a spring in everyone’s step which I hope is a good sign. We won’t get carried away with things, but at the same time you do have to enjoy it. We have had a really good season so far – we had a good FA Cup run too – but we know that this is a tough League with good teams in it and when some of the so-called teams who aren’t supposed to be good, give you good games too.
“We have fifteen games to go; February was supposed to be a six-game month which I thought would be a month where you could pick some real bones out of things leaving you with nine left when everyone starts looking at the points as the games are running out. But I think the weather may have put paid to that.”
“We have got the 4g pitch which helps for home games so we know the games will be played, but we too have suffered. We have even asked one side who we still have to face twice to switch a game but sadly they declined which is a shame. The nice thing is that we can prepare for all of our home games knowing that they will be played.”
“We are sitting in a nice position in the League – Three Bridges have had another good season at the top and some teams in and around us – Croydon; the team we are playing Saturday, Sittingbourne; Whyteleafe; Jersey; some good sides and there will always be a late runner which string four or five wins together to make a massive difference, and that’s what I thought February would do but with the weather, its gone out of the window!
“That said we have been here long enough to know that it counts for nothing yet, but we are going to keep enjoying it and have the same positive attitude going into every game as there is no reason why we shouldn’t!”
