Sam Denly has resigned from his role at Hythe Town after a heavy 7-1 defeat at Faversham Town on Tuesday evening.

The Cannons currently sit one place above the relegation places with three points after four matches in the Isthmian South East Division.

They were also knocked out og the FA Cup in the preliminary round following a 5-0 loss at Cray Wanderers.

An announcement on the club’s website reads:

Following the heavy defeat at Faversham Town on Tuesday evening and a string of disappointing performances and losses the Board have to announce that Sam Denly has decided to resign his position as Manager of Hythe Town FC.

“Sam has been a very popular and friendly face around Reachfields since his appointment in 2017 and none of us wanted this time to arrive.”

Denly lead the club to two consecutive 7th placed finishes in step four of the non league pyramid before the start of this season.
