Delort transfer saga continues

The Andy Delort saga continues to trundle on and the Addicks are reported to have agreed a fee of around £850,000 for Clermont winger, Yannis Salibur.

There have been less substantial rumours linking Charlton with moves for Bristol City’s Sam Baldock and Portsmouth duo, Adam Webster and Jed Wallace.

Possibly more plausible are stories suggesting that Costa Rican playmaker, Celso Borges, and former Wolves striker, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have attracted interest from The Valley.

Borges is contracted to Stockholm outfit, AIK, until the end of 2015. The attacking midfielder was a regular in Costa Rica’s World Cup team in Brazil and has netted 14 times for his country.

He would be an excellent signing for the Addicks and add much needed creativity from central midfield.

Ebanks-Blake has had more than his fair share of injuries of recent times, but at his best, he is a real handful at Championship level.

Still only 28-years-old, the Cambridge born striker once scored a hat-trick at The Valley for Manchester United in the Premier Reserve League play-off final.

He failed to breakthrough into United’s first team and moved to Plymouth in 2006 and scored 21 goals in 66 league games for the Pilgrims.

Ebanks-Blake moved to Wolves at the beginning of 2008 and added another 61 goals to his tally in 177 games for the Molineux side.

Released last summer, Mick McCarthy snapped him up for Ipswich but he made just one start in the Championship for the Tractor Boys, plus another eight appearances from the bench.

Ipswich released him at the end of June, he is currently a free agent but has been working on his fitness during the summer break. There will be concerns over his injury record but if Ebanks-Blake can get back to anything like his best, he would be a real asset at this level.
