It has been confirmed this morning that Nick Davis is the new manager of Sittingbourne – again!Sittingbourne logo

Its a quick return to Woodstock Park for Davis, who began the season as joint chief along with Mick Wyatt, but quit in early season to pursue his playing career.

Once Wyatt left earlier this month, the club was looking for a new boss which prompted Davis’ return.

Speaking to KSN after the club’s 5-3 win over Redhill on Tuesday night (read Darrell Harman’s report elsewhwere on KSN), club secretary John Pitts told KSN, “We are appointing Nick Davies. We have had an unprecedented amount of applications and interviewed around five of them. I have applications coming in every day!” Mr Pitts admitted.

He went on, “Nick of course knows many of the players and the set up and feels that he was unjustly ousted from the joint managers job and feels he has a point to prove.”

“He also has genuine affection for the club. We also gain a player of proven ability in having Nick. Nick also is happy to work within the budget which is competative for our division and nothing like the low figure that Matt would have you believe.”

“This was a difficult decision for the committee given the quality of many of those who applied. We have a history of giving a chance to new managers instead of those who have ‘done the circuit’.”

“In the past managers such as Mark Beeney, Garry Abbott and Richard Brady all had their first opportunity of being a manager with Sittingbourne Football Club.”

The Davis era “part two” begins on Saturday with a trip to Three Bridges…
