Davis decides to stay with Dynamos

29 year old forward Tom Davis has become the fifth player to return to the Invicta Dynamos ahead of the 2020/21 season after committing to a second consecutive campaign in Kent.

Tom Davis is a former Chelmsford junior who has had spells with the Chieftains, Peterborough Islanders, Romford / London Raiders, Milton Keynes Thunder and Oxford City Stars.

The forward has predominantly iced in the NIHL South Division 1 but also made appearances in the EPL and NHL’s second tier. It was with the Raiders where he made his biggest mark – playing 362 times, scoring 88 goals and claiming 156 assists for 244 points whilst also donning the ‘C’ of captain for four years.

Last season was Davis’ first with the Invicta Dynamos and he quickly established himself as a favourite of the fans playing on the team’s first line. The forward iced in all but one of the club’s 42 games, he scored 18 goals and chipped in with 28 assists for a total of 46 points.

In addition to proving influential up front he also stepped back to provide cover on the blue line when the side’s rear guard was depleted. Now, after a successful first term in Gillingham, Davis is back for a second looking to build on the solid platform that was 2019/20.

Speaking on his first term with the club Tom Davis said, “Last season the Dynamos took a new approach and made a lot of changes. There were new owners, a new coach, a new league and a lot of new faces in the team so it was always going to be a test for the side but overall I think we did ok.”

“We lost our way at times but we also dug deep when we needed to. Of course it was a shame to end the year the way we did with the cancellation of the final league games and playoffs as I think we would have claimed a top four spot which is where we wanted to be.”

Talking on his decision to return Davis then added, “It was an easy choice for me to come back for 2020/21. I didn’t hesitate at all when it came to re-signing. We have a great bunch of lads here and the fans were very welcoming and excellent at games.”

“Next season I think we really have to settle down and go into every game looking for the win. I think we can beat any team in the league if we perform at our top level. Silverware is definitely up for grabs and I don’t see why we can’t compete for it.”

Player-Coach Anthony Leone stated he was delighted to have Davis back in the line-up saying, “Tom had a very good first season with the Dynamos and there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that I wanted him back. He’s a fantastic competitor with great experience.”

“He did a great job for us as a first line forward but then was equally important when filling in on the blue line. He’s strong, handles the puck well and brings a lot to the team both on and off the ice. I’m very happy he’s back and I’ve no doubt the supporters are too.”

Tom Davis will continue to wear the number 20 jersey for the Dynamos when the 2020/21 season gets underway.
