Dartford accept Sheringham bid

Dartford have confirmed that they have accepted a bid from Bournemouth for striker Charlie Sheringham, son of ex-England star Teddy.

Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury revealed his interest in the frontman after Saturday’s draw at MK Dons but said that no offer had been submitted.

However, shortly after, Dartford revealed the two clubs had reached agreement on a fee reportedly worth in the region of £25,000.

Sheringham, 23, has spent time with numerous Football League clubs during his career and was on trial with Cherries in 2004.

Dartford company chairman Bill Archer told his club’s website: “Charlie Sheringham has been informed of the offer from AFC Bournemouth and is currently taking advice from his advisors with regards to this.

“Charlie is really happy at Dartford FC. He doesn’t need to go away and leave and we will hang on to him if possible, but we will not stand in his way to progression if he chooses to move on.”

Sheringham has been in excellent goalscoring form for the Darts this term and is already in double figures.
