Dartford 5-1 Bromley
Dartford 5-1 Bromley

Experienced Dartford put a young Bromley team to the sword in the Kent Senior Cup.

After going in level at the break, two goals early in the second period sent the Darts on their way to a comfortable victory.

Alex Wall had an early header saved easily by Bromley goalkeeper David Aziaya before the hosts went ahead. Charlie Sheringham got on the wrong side of Shyam Taank in the penalty area, the young defender tripped him, and a penalty was awarded. Sheringham took the responsibility himself and fired into the top corner with Aziaya going the other way.

Brandon Barzey twisted and turned and fired towards the top corner and the Ravens custodian did well to turn it over. Then Lewis Manor drew another good save out of Aziaya before the visitors had a good chance. The lively Kido Taylor-Hart was sent through by Mitchel Bergkamp but he couldn’t beat Mitchell Beeney who spread his big frame to make an outstanding block.

Barzey tried to sneak a shot in at the near post but Aziaya kept it out with a strong arm before Bromley drew level. A poor defensive pass gifted it to Taylor-Hart and he gave Beeney no chance with a good finish.

Lewis Manor tested Aziaya with a header that he parried away and Bromley only got it away with some desperate scrambling, and Dartford again came close just before the half tine break when Alex Wall’s header was just out of the reach of Sheringham.

Two minutes into the second half, Dartford regained the lead. Sheringham squared to Luke Allen and he fired into the bottom corner.

Noah Joyce went on a powerful run for the Ravens and fizzed his shot just over the angle of bar and post before Dartford scored again. Wall sent over a deep cross and Sheringham met it with a classy finish at the far post.

Aziaza made an outstanding save to keep out a header from Wall but he blotted his copybook twenty minutes in when his clearance went strange to Brandon Barzey who made no mistake with a clinical finish.

Bergkamp came close to pulling one back with a free lick that skimmed the roof of the net before a Joyce curler went just beyond the far post.

Seven minutes remained when Dartford made it five. Archie Woods took a quick free kick that sent Paul Rooney away and he hooked a cross to the far post that Barzey met with a crisp volley that gave Aziaya no chance.

To their credit, Bromley fought to the end and Aribusitam Pepple had an effort deflected wide before Beeney made an excellent save to keep out a shot by Bergkamp. However, Dartford had the final effort, a long drive from Baris Altintop that was saved by Aziaya.
