Dartford 4-0 Welling United
Dartford 4-0 Welling United

Two teams at the opposite end of the form table met at Princes Park and Dartford helped themselves to a comprehensive victory over Welling United.

First half goals by Jacob Berkely-Agyepong and Elliott Romain and further strikes by Romain and a Darren McQueen penalty were enough to complete a great three game festive period for the Darts and a miserable one for the Wings.

Romain had the first goal attempt when he spun and shot but it went wide then Ky Marsh-Brown fired straight at Dan Wilks. Berkely-Agyepong had a shot tipped over before McQueen shot across the face of goal.

Dipo Akinyemi had Welling’s first chance deflected wide but a goal kick was awarded and Dartford scored almost immediately. Berkely-Agyepong ran unchallenged across the goal and fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Dan Wilks made a great save from Romain before the Darts doubled their lead. Liam Gordon crossed and Romain made space for himself to head home.

McQueen and Romain both shot over before Welling finished the half on the front foot. Connor Dymond dispossessed Billy Crook and found Moses Emmanuel but his low shot was saved by Alhaji Sesay, Emmanuel then turned provider finding Goldberg but Sesay turned his shot round the post and Sesay again saved from Goldberg in injury time.

Marsh-Brown had the first chance of the second half but Wilks saved easily before Gavin McCallum had a shot blocked for Welling and Emmanuel’s follow up was blocked wide. Then Goldberg had a shot saved before Dartford scored again.

Although Wilks saved from Marsh-Brown initially, it squirmed loose and Romain was on hand to prod it into the net.

Jordan Wynter fired over before Dartford added a fourth. Substitute Luke Wanadio burst into the box and went down under Jay Rich-Baghuelou’s challenge and a penalty was awarded. McQueen stepped up and sent Wilks the wrong way.

Wilks made a brilliant diving save to deny Romain a hat-trick before Liam Gordon had an effort blocked and follow up saved. Danny Waldren had a shot blocked in stoppage time but it would have been far too little far too late for Welling.
