Dartford 2-0 Slough Town
Dartford 2-0 Slough Town

A debut to remember for Chris Dickson as his two second half goals secures the three points for Dartford against Slough Town in the National League South. The Darts were able to hold on for the three points despite a late red card for Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong.

Before the game Dartford announced another new signing as Dickson joined on dual registration from Hornchurch. He was one of four changes to the side that lost midweek as Wady, Allen and Barham were all named in the starting eleven.

The first half echoed the fa cup fixture between the two sides earlier in the season in that it lacked any quality in the final third.

Slough had the first effort at goal after the ball deflected to Jackman who volleyed it first time but sliced his shot wide.

Dartford’s new signing had his first sight of goal after a headed flick from Barham sent him behind the defence but his first time shot was well wide.

Neither team were able to take control of the game but it was mostly played in Slough’s half with the away team relying on the counter.

The Darts had a couple of efforts from range with Jebb curling an effort a yard wide and Dickson blazing over the bar with a half volley but the sides went in level at half time.

The opening ten minutes of the second half were frantic as the Dartford came out flying. In the opening minute Barham received the ball down the right, turned his man inside out and sent a low cross across the six yard box and there was Dickson who couldn’t miss.

Hodges almost equalised straight away for Slough when he superbly brought the ball under control on the edge of the six yard box but his effort bounced off the woodwork.

The visitors were made to pay when Husin was brought down a minute later by the corner flag. Jebb took the free kick and there was Dickson again at the back post to volley home at the back post.

Back cam Slough at Dartford and Jackman fired a shot in to the side netting after a corner wasn’t cleared by the hosts.

Dartford the took control and slowed the game down but with twenty minutes to go the Darts had Essam to thank after clearing off the line. Harris had flicked the ball over Wady after the defence failed to head clear a long ball but Essam was alive to the danger.

The debutant Dickson had been impressive and attempted an overhead kick looking for his hat trick but it went narrowly over the bar.

Then came a moment of controversy as Berkeley-Agyepong was sent off went he challenged for a ball that he had overran.

Despite their man advantage Slough were unable to break down a resolute Dartford defence. A long range shot was easily saved by Wady and Harris could only head a half chance wide.

The Darts were able to put the midweek defeat behind them and return straight back to winning ways remaining top of the table.
