Dartford 1-0 Dulwich Hamlet

Dominant Dartford downed Dulwich as their impressive home form under Steve King continued.

Darren McQueen scored the only goal of the game in the first half as Dartford returned to winning ways in the National League South.

Steve King made only one change from the team that lost at Slough Town last weekend. Braham-Barrett came in at left back to replace Nick Arnold, whilst Sanchez Ming was moved back to his more familiar position at the right side of the defence. Ming had his red card from Slough overturned this week which was a welcome boost for the Darts.

Dartford’s first chance came early on when Josh Hill had a header cleared away following a great cross by Billy Crook.

The visitors fashioned their first effort with a strike from outside the box, Nyren Clunis with a shot that was comfortably saved by Alhaji Sesay.

The home side then dominated the remainder of the first half playing some great football. A couple of headed efforts from Dartford tested Charlie Grainger in the Dulwich goal, first the Dulwich custodian tipped over from Tyrique Hyde before pulling off a superb save to deny Elliott Romain.

In the 23rd minute Dartford took the lead thanks to Darren McQueen. After playing some great passing football, it was a long ball that lead to the break through. Romain managed to flick the ball on to McQueen who showed pace and strength to hold off the defender before powering an effort past Grainger.

There was a bit of controversy after David Ijaha went in high and late on Braham-Barrett but the referee took his time and produced a yellow card for the Dulwich midfielder.

Dartford had two more chances before half time with Hyde shooting wide after a good ball from Braham-Barrett. Luke Wanadio then created a chance for himself, beating his man only to see his shot go narrowly wide.

The break didn’t change anything some great passing in the middle resulted in Hyde being through on goal but he rolled his tame effort wide.

The tireless Romain, who was awarded man of the match, had the next chance as he saw an effort saved by Grainger.

Try as they may Dartford were unable to get the second goal. Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong and Ming both had efforts that went narrowly wide.

The Hamlet did put some late pressure on the Dartford defence but they never managed to test Sesay.

Dartford were able to see the game out and despite the score line were comfortable winners.

The result keeps the Darts in 7th place whilst Dulwich drop a place to 16th.
