A brace of fourth place finishes salvaged what was a tough weekend for Brad Ray at Donington Park at the weekend.

After a seventh placed finished on his birthday in Saturday’s opening race of the weekend, it was almost a case of damage limitations for the weekend.
Having had an off in practice, it meant that Ray and the team were on the back foot from the off.
Added to the Ducati’s and Bimota’s were almost a class above the Yamaha’s across the weekend.

The sprint race on Sunday lunchtime, saw Ray make a step forward and he had a bit of a lonely race after the first few laps. He couldn’t catch the front three but had more than those behind him in the tank.
The final race of the weekend saw him take another step forward, and whilst he was fourth. He was chasing down the top three prior to the safety car and then post safety car, he was not far from Max Cook in third.
The season now moves on towards Knockhill in June, with Ray and his McAMS team set to work hard in the break.
Speaking after the weekend, Ray said: “It was a good weekend overall, considering we started Friday with a crash and lost some valuable track time. But both Sunday races were very strong.

“We made a good step with the bike in the warm-up, got a clean start, and I managed to work through the field and close the gap to the front. I was pushing hard the entire race trying to find that extra bit, and while there are still a few areas to improve, I’m genuinely pleased with how things came together.
“The team has done a fantastic job, and the bike has clearly taken a step forward. We’ll take the points, and hopefully Knockhill will deliver some stronger results.”
