Fans of cricket will come together for a special lunch on Friday in memory of former Kent and England bowler Alan Igglesden with some greats to be in attendance.

The lunch is to be held at Smith & Wollensky in London with former England bowlers Phil Tufnell and Gladstone Small just a few of the names to be there.
They will be joined by former Kent all-rounder Richard Ellison for what is set to be a great day for cricket fans to come together to remember “Iggy”, but also raise much needed funds in his memory after the fast bowler died of a brain tumour back in 2021.
The three course lunch and Q&A will be hosted by former Kent and England captain, Chris Cowdrey, with tickets still remaining for those that wish to attend.
In what will be the biggest event yet for the charity set up in Alan Igglesden’s name – Iggy’s Fund, the lunch is the latest in a series of events that Alan’s brother Kevin is staging in his memory.
Speaking to Kent Sports News ahead of the lunch, Kevin explained the need for these events and how he hopes cricket fans will turn out for one of their former heroes.
“This was set up in memory of my brother Alan when he passed away with a brain tumour.”
“When Alan was diagnosed in 1999 with an inoperable tumour and giving a life span of 10 years, we were all devastated.”
“He only retired from professional cricket in 1998. He survived 22 years, one of the longest survivors for his type of tumour.”
“As a family we started raising money for research as we found out how under funded it was.”

“When Alan passed away in 2021 we decided that we didn’t want to stop the fundraising. So Iggy’s Fund was formed.”
“We’re a young charity but making great strides. Since Alan’s diagnosis we have raised in the region of £400,000 for research.”

“This makes us very proud and keen to carry on the legacy of Alan.”
“Please take a look at our website www.iggysfund.com to see what we do.”
Along with the lunch on Friday, Kevin and Iggy’s Fund have lots of future events planned with a cricket match to be staged at Beckenham in 2026 against a Daniel Bell-Drummond XI as part of his testimonial year.
