Crees committed for Thruxton

Power Maxed Racing’s Michael Crees will bring all of his commitment and determination to the quickest track on the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship calendar this weekend, when the racing returns to ultra-fast Thruxton for the second time in 2022.

During the previous visit to Hampshire back in May, Broadstairs racer Creesy enjoyed a terrific outing with a career-best finish of eighth position overall and a top three result in the Independents Trophy at the wheel of his No.777 Vauxhall Astra in round nine.

Aiming to build on such a strong showing as the season unfolded, instead – to a large extent – the campaign has been one of immense frustration for the BTCC fan-favourite. The biggest struggle, most notably, has been a lack of power which has badly stymied Creesy’s challenge.

By its very nature, of course, 2.36-mile Thruxton is a power circuit and so there are concerns a tough weekend could be in prospect if a lack of speed raises its head again. With the memories from earlier in the season still fresh, though, Creesy is hoping to turnaround his year as it enters the latter stages.

Ahead of rounds 22, 23 and 24, the Glencar Construction, Geberit, DDS Group, PCS, Fire Control Services, CTD, Blue Rock Systems, Aquadart and BITA supported driver has achieved eight outright points finishes and chalked-up Independents scores in 15 races – including three third places.

With just nine races remaining in the current campaign, Creesy is hungry to get back to the sort of performances he showed at Thruxton during the previous visit. One thing is for sure, if the pace is in the car this weekend then Creesy will deliver.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Crees said: “There’s nowhere else like Thruxton, I absolutely love driving there and I really hope we can get beyond the power issues we’ve been having to really be able to attack the weekend. The team has been working hard to try and help us move forward, but we still haven’t been able to challenge how we want to which is frustrating.

“Obviously the visit to Thruxton earlier in the season went pretty well, taking my best ever finish was a great result and I really want to be in a position to build on that this weekend. We’ll only know where we are when we’re underway with practice and qualifying, but I’ll be giving it 110% as ever and trying to deliver some strong results for my sponsors and the fans.”
