It’s a local derby at Flamingo Park on Bank Holiday Monday when Cray Wanderers host Welling United in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The Wands go into the game having had the weekend off due to the problems their opponents Maldon & Tiptree are experiencing, meaning the game was postponed.

Prior to that, Tim O’Shea’s side win 2-1 at home to Eastbourne Borough thanks to goals from Ade Yusuff and Alex Hernandez, leaving them on five points from four league games.

Welling Utd have had great start to the season, sitting in third place with twelve points from five matches. On Saturday The Wings won 1-0 at home to Ramsgate, Nahum Melvin-Lambert with the vital goal for Ryan Maxwell’s team after only five minutes.

When the teams met at Flamingo Park last season at Easter, the game ended 3-2 to Welling Utd, who scored all their goals in the final half an hour of the match, going a long way to securing their league safety.

This should be a great local Bank Holiday derby between two in form teams looking to gain positive momentum into September.
