Cray Wanderers vs Welling United – Preview

Cray Wanderers host another pre-season match against National League opposition this evening, when The Wands play Welling United from the South Division at Hayes Lane.

Capacity for the match is again limited to 600 tickets, which must be purchased in advance from the club’s website.

In the first of these events Cray hosted Bromley on Saturday in a thoroughly entertaining game that ended in a 4-3 win for The National League Ravens, but there were a lot of positives for manager Tony Russell to take from the game, with The Wands deserving a draw over the piece. Joe Taylor, Freddie Parker and Bradley Pritchard all found the net, while a Trialist hit the post late on.

Cray start their Isthmian League Premier Division campaign on 19th September and have one more warm up match after Tuesdaybefore they host Kingstonian on the opening day. The pre season programme thus far has seen a settled side making steady progress towards the big kick off.

Welling make the short trip over preparing for an October start in National League South. The Wings manager Bradley Quinton had seen various line ups play & pre-season games so far, the latest being a 3-0 win at Bowers & Pitsea last week as he put his squad together and look at prospective players.

This game will be a good test for both sides as they step up preparations for the start of their new league seasons.
