Cray Wanderers vs Kingstonian – Preview

In form Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Kingstonian at Hayes Lane.

The Wands go into the game on an unbeaten run of seven games, having beaten Canvey Island 2-1 on Wednesday night, thanks to a first half double strike from George Porter, following on from a 1-0 win at Cheshunt last weekend. The midweek win took Neil Smith’s side up to thirteenth in the table, now sixteen points clear of the bottom four with 39 points from 30 league games as they look to secure their Isthmian League Premier Division status ahead of their move to Flamingo Park next Season.

Kingstonian make the trip over from Surrey sitting bottom of the table with 17 points from 28 league matches, although their form has improved up of late, on Tuesday they picked up an impressive 0-0 draw away at Enfield Town, having beaten Bognor Regis 3-2 in their previous match last Saturday, with goals from Eddie Dsane, Freddie Price and Lion Bello.

The Ks, who are currently without a manager after Simon Lane left last week, have extended highly rated centre back Sam German’s loan from Bromley’s Under 23 side for the rest of the season.

Having been homeless since losing use of their Kingsmeadow ground in 2016, The Ks will move to groundshare with Raynes Park Vale next season, having previously played at Leatherhead, Corinthian Casuals and Tooting & Mitcham Utd during their exile.

When the sides met in the reverse fixture at Imperial Fields in September, Kingstonian won 3-0 with goals from Rio Campbell, Andy Somo & Darnell Goather-Braithwaite, but with both teams experiencing an upturn in form of late, this game could well be a lot closer as Cray look to confirm their safety and Ks look to pick up more points.

Entrance for the game is £12 for adults and £6 for concessions with a printed programme for £2. Kick off is at 3pm.
