Cray Wanderers vs Fisher – Preview

Cray Wanderers turn their attention to the FA Cup on Wednesday night when they entertain Fisher in the First Qualifying Round at Hayes Lane.

The Wands go into the game following an impressive 5-1 win over Kingstonian on Saturday, which kicked off their Isthmian League Premier Division campaign, thanks to goals from Jason Banton, Rhys Murrell-Williamson, Freddie Parker and a double from Joe Taylor.

Fisher make the short journey over from Rotherhithe having begun the season with wins in both FA knock out competitions, at the weekend they defeated Little Common 4-0 in the FA Vase, with goals from Rob Brown, Tarik Ibrahim and a brace from Julio Da Mata.

While in the cup they have already beaten Horsham YMCA 2-0 and Tooting & Mitcham on penalties after a 2-2 draw. The Fish’s SCEFL Premier Division season has started with a draw, a loss and a 3-1 win over Tower Hamlets last week.

So both sides will be full of confidence ahead of this cup tie, playing some good football and looking to progress through to possibly face higher level opposition.

Over the years several players, managers and support staff have served both clubs, giving the game a feel of a friendly derby. A cup tie under the lights is always a special occasion and with the game having to end in a result on the night, there is also the potential for extra time and penalties.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, they can be purchased in advance from the Cray Wanderers website or on the gate, with capacity limited to 600.
