Cray Wanderers vs Faversham Town – Preview

Following their 4-0 FA Cup success over Badshot LEA last weekend Cray Wanderers entertain Faversham in a Kent derby at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon looking for their first win of the Ryman League Division One South season.Cray Banner

Faversham make the trip up to the suburbs in great form having won both their league games 2-0 and their FA Cup game 2-1 over Epsom & Ewell last Saturday, sitting second place in the table. The Wands have drawn both of their league games so far, a dramatic comeback saw them grab a 3-3 draw at home to Sittingbourne on the opening day after trailing 3-1 with two minutes to go and they then recoded a creditable 0-0 at Guernsey the following Wednesday with a weakened squad.

Manager Tony Russell is still making some additions to his squad, the latest being young forward Brandon Scott who scored at Badshot and will be hoping The Black and Ambers can take the momentum on from their first competitive win into the league.

There was a much improved attendance at Hayes Lane for their first game back in Division One South and Saturday should prove to be the same again as these two familiar old foes from their Kent League days meet again in what should be a tight and well contested match.
