Cray Wanderers continue their attempt at ‘The Great Escape’ on Tuesday night as they entertain fifteenth place Waltham Abbey at Hayes Lane in Ryman League Division One North.

On a run of seven consecutive wins which has taken them out of the bottom three The Wands have doubled their points tally over the last month and if they can pick up another five points from their final three games they will avoid relegation which looked like a certainty when Tommy Warrilow took over as manager.

Two goals from Alex Teniola plus one from Adrian Stone and Cesc Fakinos saw them record a creditable 4-2 win at Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday, made even more impressive as they were reduced to ten men after 24 minutes when influential midfielder Chris Piper was sent off.

With Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night and Tilbury at home on Sunday, Cray might be able to secure safety in front of their own fans before a tricky final away game at Dereham on 25th, which would be a remarkable achievement.
