Cray Wanderers v South Park preview

Cray Wanderers return to Hayes Lane for Ryman League Division One South action on Saturday when they entertain South Park.

The Wands have been having a tough time of it of late conceding 18 goals in the last five games and only picking up one point, which has seen their hopes of making the play offs slip away.

Last Saturday they lost 4-2 at East Grinstead Town with both of the Black and Ambers’ goals coming via Luke Medley from the penalty spot. When the two sides met in Reigate last month Cray ran out 4-1 winners with Medley scoring a hatrick, but since then injuries, retirements and departures have left Tony Russell’s side depleted and struggling for form.

South Park make the journey up from Surrey sitting one place above Cray in eleventh with 57*pts from 34games, they lost 2-1 on Monday night at home to Whyteleafe before travelling to Herne Bay on Wednesday where they drew 1-1 as they make up their fixture back log on most of the teams above them still with half a chance of a late bid for the post season games.

The Wands only have a handful of home games left this season and will be anxious to turn their current form around and finish higher up the table with an eye on building for next season.

With a total of 20 goals scored in the 3 last matches Cray have played in, whatever the outcome it should be an entertaining afternoon for football at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.
