Cray Wanderers v Leatherhead preview

Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action on Wednesday night when they take on fellow relegation strugglers Leatherhead at Hayes Lane.

The Wands go in to the game having lost their last two matches by a single goal, 1-0 to Bognor Regis Town last midweek and 2-1 to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

The two home defeats have left Grant Basey’s side in twentieth place with 19 points from 23 league matches played, winning one, drawing one and losing two since the interim manager took over.

The Wands took the lead against Corinthian Casuals on Saturday through Jamie Yila, but were pinned back just before half time and then let in a goal two minutes from time to deny them a point.

Leatherhead travel over from Surrey on 12 points from 24 games, they currently sit bottom of the table with one win from their last five. On Saturday Nikki Bull’s side lost 4-0 at promotion hopefuls Worthing.

Among the Tanners squad is midfielder Archie Burnett who is on loan from Bromley and had a good spell on loan at Cray earlier this season.

The sides have yet to meet this campaign, but will both be desperate to get three points and start a run that could take them to safety above the bottom three, which sets this game up to be a hard fought encounter with so much to play for.

Entrance for the game is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for the excellent printed programme. Kick off is 7.45pm.
