Cray Wanderers v Kings Langley preview

Cray Wanderers start their FA Trophy campaign on Sunday afternoon when they entertain Kings Langley in the 3rd Qualifying Round at Hayes Lane.

The Wands go into the game having lost 4-0 at Cheshunt in the Isthmian League Premier Division last weekend and manager Danny Kedwell also gave a mixed side of trialists and  first teamers a run out against Charlton Athletic’s Under 23s on Wednesday night losing 2-1, Fjord Rogers scoring for the home side.

Prior to that Cray had won away at Carshalton and drew at Haringey, but then had a two week break due to other teams cup commitments.

The Wands currently sit seventeenth in the table with ten points from eleven league games played.

Kedwell has continued to make changes to his squad as he tries to discover the right formula and had recently brought in experienced striker Chris Dickson who won the FA Trophy last year with Hornchurch.

Other new arrivals include defender Richard Danquah, midfielder Daniel Uchechi and winger Richard Afrane-Kesey.

Kings Langley travel down from Herts for the first ever meeting between the two clubs sitting bottom of the Southern League Premier South Division with six points from fourteen league matches played.

Last Saturday they drew 1-1 at home to Merthyr Town, Roddy Collins scoring the equaliser for Chris Cumming’s side.

Kings have yet to win a league game this season, but did progress in the FA Cup defeating Romford 3-2, before being knocked out by Leiston in a replay.

With both sides looking to get back to winning ways and looking for the financial boost a run in the trophy can provide this should be an interesting match up with a place in the first round proper up for grabs.

Prior to the cup tie the Cray Wanderers Community Scheme are offering free football coaching to children from 5-15 years old starting at 1pm.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, plus the excellent programme for £2.
