Cray Wanderers v Haringey Borough preview

Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action again on Wednesday night when they entertain Haringey Borough at Hayes Lane.

In front of a crowd of over 300 The Wands drew 1-1 at home to Cheshunt on Saturday, Anthony Cook scoring his 100th career goal to put Grant Basey’s side in front from the penalty spot late in the first half, before the visitors equalised in the second period.

The result saw The Wands remain in nineteenth place with 29 points from 33 league matches played, one point & place above the relegation spots having had three points deducted last month, although Brightlingsea Regent in twentieth have two games in hand.

Basey’s preparations were not helped by a number of injuries picked up before and during the game at the weekend losing Kyel Reid, Richie Danquah and Jamie Yila prior and Denzel Williams after only 20 minutes of the game.

Haringey travel over from North London sitting in fifteenth with 35 points from 32 games played, on Saturday they lost 3-0 at Carshalton Athletic, which ended a run of two consecutive 1-0 wins for Tom Loizou’s team.

When the sides met at Coles Park  in October the game ended 1-1, Scott Mitchell putting Borough in front early on before Jamie Yila equalised in the second half.

This match looks set to be equally as close with both teams keen to put some space between themselves and the bottom three heading into the final quarter of the league season.

Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with an excellent printed programme at £2.
