Cray Wanderers v East Thurrock United – Preview

Having scored ten goals in their last two games in form Cray Wanderers return to Isthmian League Premier Division action on Saturday when they entertain East Thurrock Utd at Hayes Lane.

The Wands won 5-1 at Bishop Stortford last midweek, before recording a 5-2 win at home to Soham Town Rangers on Sunday in the FA Cup. Striker Joe Taylor has netted five goals over the last two matches, including a hatrick in the cup.

The Rocks travel over from Essex sitting in fifth place with fifteen points from eight matches, last weekend United won 2-1 at home to Brightlingsea Regent with Frankie Merrifield scoring both goals.

Tony Russell’s side sit in eighth place with ten points from seven games, having lost only once so far this season, despite having key players out with long term injuries including Andre Coker & Jay Leader. Young centre back Harry Hudson has impressed since coming in on loan from Watford and scored his first goal in senior football last weekend to celebrate extending his stay at the club by another month.

The sides haven’t met since the 2013/14 when The Rocks completed the double over The Wands, 3-0 and 3-1.

Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, but season ticket holders for Premier, Football and National League clubs can gain entry for only £5 when presenting their ticket at the turnstile.

A bargain for what promises to be a good contest between two in form sides looking to stay within touch of the leaders.
