Cray Wanderers v Corinthian Casuals preview

Following Wednesday night’s narrow loss, Cray Wanderers are back at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Corinthian Casuals in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The Wands lost 1-0 at home to Bognor Regis Town on Wednesday night, their first defeat since Grant Basey had taken over as interim manager, having drawn one and won one previously.

The loss left them in twentieth place with 19 points from 22 league games played, one point behind Brightlingsea Regent in fourth bottom. Injuries and player absence meant Anthony Cook had to play at centre back against Bognor, but new signing Luca Albon did make an impressive debut in central midfield.

Corinthian Casuals are eleventh in the table with 32 points from 22 matches played, on Tuesday night they were knocked out of the London Senior Cup on penalties by Harrow Borough following a 0-0 draw. In their last league outing on 3rd January, Casuals drew 1-1 with Horsham, Ola Williams with the equalising goal.

When the sides met in the reverse fixture in Tolworth back in September, James Bracken’s side won 4-0 with Warren Mfula scoring a hattrick and Emmanuel Mensah the other on a night to forget for Cray.

This looks set to be a close fought encounter, Casuals are only nine points of the play offs so will be keen to get back to winning ways, while The Wands are in real need of points to try and claw their way away from the relegation zone.

Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with an excellent printed programme at £2. Kick off is 3pm.
