After a Saturday of FA Trophy action Cray Valley PM entertain Brentwood Town this evening in the Isthmian League Premier division.

There were mixed emotions for the two teams in their Trophy matches. Steve McKimm’s Millers fell to defeat at step four Sittingbourne. The Brickies went ahead nine minutes before half time through a Henry Sinai goal and doubled their lead four minutes after the break through an own goal. Cray pulled one back in stoppage time through a Matty Vigor spot kick but it was too little too late.
Meanwhile, Brentwood were beating Welling United in an all step three encounter in Essex. The hosts had already hit the woodwork before going ahead in the eleventh minute through Daniel Ogunleye. Benas Vaivada added a brace either side of half time allowing the Blues to cruise to victory.
They are currently top of the league with twenty-nine points from twelve games whilst the Millers are down in seventeenth with eleven points from eleven games. Surprisingly, Brentwood’s one league defeat this season was suffered at the hands of bottom of the table Canvey Island.
As the two teams were in different leagues last season, there is no real recent history between the two teams however, they did meet in the FA Trophy in the first round at the Brentwood Centre Arena. Most of the goalscoring happened in the first half with defenders Matt Cripps and Jonathan Nzenga giving the hosts a two goal lead. Danny Waldren pulled one back but Jesse Olukolu restored the hosts’ two goal lead five minutes before half time.
Freddie Parker scored for the Millers two minutes later and Fumnaya Shomotun’s stoppage time goal brought the score to three-all at half time. The second half was much quieter and it appeared that the match was heading for penalties until Romel Aarons Royal grabbed a last ditch winner for the Blues.
